Transportation
Leaf One

- Members of our office feel that there are adequate bike racks for staff near our buildings. If not, we contacted Facilities/Operations at our School/unit to see if relocating existing bike racks or obtaining new racks is a possibility.
Leaf Two

- Members of our office are aware of Harvard’s Commuter Choice Program or Longwood’s CommuteWorks program and their resources regarding public transportation, ridesharing, bicycling, and transit news. Information about the applicable program (including bike maps, Zipcar info, etc.) is displayed permanently on one of our information boards, or we have a kiosk in the lobby of our building. - In order to reduce truck traffic and vehicle emissions in our community, whenever possible we use the Harvard-preferred vendors for the following services that involve delivery: office supplies (Office Max), mail delivery (FedEx), and data destruction (DataShredder). The Harvard Procurement Management Department negotiates lower prices with vendors and may be contacted for more information about specific products and opportunities. A full list of preferred vendors is available on the Procurement website.

- When planning work-related travel, we consult websites to explore greener transport options through PlanetTran (taxis) and ZipCar. When choosing lodging, we consider lodging with one of the following certifications: US EPA Energy Star Label for Hospitality, LEED, Green Hotels Association, or EcoRoom.
