Sustaining Partnerships
It is very important for a green living program (GLP) to maintain accountability and trusting relationships with its funding partners, steering group members and other campus supporters.
Partnerships Build a Community of Interest
By building a community of interest, the campus will transform organically. People will be interested in the issues you are educating them about, and they will want to integrate sustainable practices and knowledge into their daily lives.
GLP as a Change-agent within the Campus Community
Having built a community of interest, a GLP becomes an effective change-agent within the college or university. The GLP has developed its own community while also existing within the larger university community. The goal is to continually merge these communities until they are one and the same.
A GLP is not just about having twenty paid students who understand and talk about environmental issues. The real goal is to have a population of people who are informed, motivated and prepared to take action on these issues throughout their lives. It is also about building a community that wants to continue to teach itself and learn about creating the sustainable world we envision.
Managing Partnerships
The more numerous and committed your partners, the longer lasting your GLP will be. And, most likely, the more successful you will be at branching out to be effective on campus!
