Outreach
Student internship projects have wide appeal. It is important for your program to take advantage of the good stories that can be told. Keep in the eye of your college or university’s press. Send out press releases and regular updates on interns' work. Make and maintain contact with a reporter in a campus-wide publication, preferably one who finds your topic of particular interest and will continue to follow related stories.
If you have the time and resources, put together an e-newsletter or paper publication to keep your audience—including building and facility managers, professors, research staff, physical planners, financial planners, students and administrators—informed about your student internship program's achievements. Try to get your information in any regular publication that already exists on campus, such as student publications, departmental newsletters and sponsors' communications.
