SPECIFICATIONS

How to use this page:

This page provides guidelines and tools for writing and meeting project specifications.

In addition to a LEED section in Division 1, target specific materials for spec language in each of the CSI Divisions.  For example, any time paint is used, include low-VOC paint language in that section, for adhesives use the adhesives language, etc.

For MR credits 3-6, require material cost data in all spec sections (non-MEP), but only specific environmental info from those that are:

        1. Costly
        2. Likely to have the desired environmental attribute (i.e. recycled content)

Division 1 should also include specs for Construction and Demolition Waste Management, Indoor Air Quality Management, Diesel Emissions Controls on Construction Vehicles, and LEED Requirements, etc.

Architect/Cost Estimator/LEED Consultant: Early in the project phases, architect should use this sheet to target materials based on LEED MR and EQ credit requirements. Work with a cost estimator to review cost of materials. Architect should review and make revisions based on cost and project goals. HGCI or LEED consultant should then review to optimize the list.

Architect: Review each Contractor submittal based on LEED requirements, project specifications, and project goals.
